Course Structure
All our Skippers courses consist of the following:
Theory presentation
- Chart literacy: Learn how to read nautical charts and plan a safe passage to your destination
- Power: We will cover the in’s and out’s of out board motors including maintenance, trouble shooting and basic repairs.
- Law: You will learn the legal aspects of boating and will understand your obligations as a skipper
- Weather: Understand weather patterns and how that relates to safe boating
- Seamanship: This section deals with knots, terminology, rules of the road, pre-launch checks and safety drills
- Emergencies: Learn to be prepared for when things go wrong at sea. Includes First Aid, Fire procedure, Man Over Board, Capsize and many other procedures
- Boat Handling: We take a look at how to safely manoeuvre a vessel in a variety of conditions

- Rope work and knots: We take a look at how to safely manoeuvre a vessel in a variety of conditions
Category E – 1 Nautical Mile
Course Duration: 2 Days
Perfect for boats and jetski’s. This entry-level course will give you the essential skills to confidently navigate South Africa’s waters within 1 nautical mile from shore. Over two days, you will receive hands-on training that combines practical experience with essential theoretical knowledge, preparing you for your time at sea
